THE BIG PICTURE: DALLAS AUDIO POST OPENS DOLBY STAGE
This month, MIX heads to Dallas Audio Post to check out the new Dolby Stage, built from the ground-up and designed by acoustic expert Fran Manzella of FM Design. Then we visit the brand-new SFJAZZ Center, a high-tech "sanctuary for jazz" in San Francisco; and Soundgarden live at the Fox Theater in Oakland, Calif.
We've also got interviews with alt-pop/rock band Paramore, who enlisted producer/musician Justin Meldal-Johnsen for their latest self-titled album; The Flaming Lips, who discuss recording 'The Terror'; and foley artist John Roesch, who recently received the MPSE’s Career Achievement Award at the Golden Reel Awards. We also get the details behind the sound of the hit TV series 'Revolution,' and present you with the Mix Guide to Portable Recorders.
This month's Mix Regional - Southwest U.S. covers tips from producer/artist Luca Pretolesi, who has worked with Steve Aoki, Tiësto, Bruno Mars, Major Lazer, Diplo, Cypress Hill and Snoop Lion; and The Saltmine studios in Mesa, Ariz.
