MIX-2016-3 - DREAM ASYLUM: THE STYLISTIC INTERPLAY OF MARCELLA ARAICA AND DANJA
This month, MIX features Dream Asylum, the studio co-owned by hit producers Marcella Araica and Nate "Danja" Hills. We talk to Araica about the evolution of the WSDG-designed studio, located just outside of Miami. Sound designer/composer Dražen Bošnjak, owner of the award-winning music and sound design studio Q Department in Tribeca, N.Y., talks about creating content for completely interactive, 360-degree, three-dimensional environments, including the virtual reality project The Martian VR Experience.
Next, we profile game sound designer Bill Brown and discuss his gear and techniques for creating the sounds of hit games such as Lord of the Rings, Command & Conquer: Generals and Captain America: Super Soldier. Studio designer Wes Lachot offers 10 tips for small-room acoustics.
The Live section features a tour profile on Nathaniel Rateliff and the story behind Vanessa Carlton's live setup. Plus! Check out our guide to really small pro-grade powered speakers and our top gear picks from NAMM 2016.
