Chapter 9: Johnny Winter-style Rock and Roll.

Description:

This lesson looks at the elements of Johnny Winter’s distinctive blues-rock soloing style, with a featured musical example played over a 12-bar blues in the key of B, set to an uptempo, Chuck Berry-inspired straight-eighths groove. Signature techniques include the use of sliding double-stops, double picking and bend vibrato.  The guitarist’s use of notes from both the B minor and major pentatonic scales is also demonstrated and discussed, as well as his use of unison bends up to the flatted seventh.
